FAQS:

Why are you different from other art course providers?(continued)

Use of oils and not acrylic paints

Please note that our painting workshops are are taught in oil rather than acrylic paints. We believe that the use of oil paints enables artists to develop a greater sensitivity to their painting approach. The fact that oil paints dry more slowly than acrylics permit the artist to adapt and change the forms and colours as he or she paints and therefore to perfect the painting. In addition the quality of oil paints give the possibility of obtaining a wide variety of textures.

The Ostro oil paints we provide in our workshops are handmade in our Parisian atelier using boiled oils. These paints have been developed with a quick drying medium so that they dry within 1 day. This time frame enables workshop participants to develop their week-long painting by adding a new layer of colour every day.

Further Workshops

Sergio's experience and passion for on-site painting enable us to offer further workshops in France in the Alps for mountain-scape painting. In addition we run cityscape and portraiture workshops from our unique and spacious Parisian atelier as documented in the New York Times in 2008.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

We cannot be held responsible for bad weather in Agay. However, given the average climate in the Summer in Agay bad weather is highly unlikely! Here is an example of the annual climate charts for Agay. In the event of rain we will continue our lessons outdoors under the shelter of umbrellas. In the event of severe weather preventing the continuation of the day's painting we will be able to continue the class indoors so as to miss out on tutoring time.
